What materials can be used to create patent drawings?

Patent drawings can be created based on photographs or sketches of the invention, informal patent drawings, printed matter, or CAD files in STEP or DXF format. 

If available, the detailed description of the drawings is often helpful, especially when sketches or informal drawings are unclear.
